APWA Stuff the Stocking Event

This year, Santa’s Helpers at Aztech donated to the APWA Nevada family who raised more than $10,000 for Neighborhood Housing Services of Southern Nevada residents. NHSSN provides affordable housing and education to promote future home ownership for southern Nevada families living at or below 60% of the average household income. Each resident received a $100 grocery store gift card and all of the children received a visit from Santa and new toys! Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!

98.5 KLUC Toy Drive

The Aztech team and their families donated bicycles and helmets to the 98.5 KLUC Toy Drive on December 12, 2017. Aztech is passionate about making Las Vegas a better community for everyone who lives here.

After 12 days of KLUC’s Toy Drivin’, the numbers were staggering: 32 semis filled with donations…8,109 bikes contributed…and $455,550 in cash and gift cards given to the children of southern Nevada.

NSPE STEM Outreach Program

Aztech’s Claire Kohatsu, a member of the NSPE (Nevada Society of Professional Engineers), participated in the “May the 4th Be With You” STEM Outreach Program. NSPE’s outreach to K-6 students is new is based on observations that there is insufficient resources in the public schools’ lower grades to provide hands-on activities in engineering design and testing.

The NSPE offered three different self-supporting kits that contain engineering design and testing activities to the K-6 students. They allowed the students to choose from:

  • The Hoop Glider, a simple glider made from a straw and two loops of construction paper,
  • The Pop Fly Catapult, a catapult made from paint sticks, a wooden spool, a Dixie cup, and duct tape,
  • And the Rubber Band Car, a vehicle made from 2 compact disks, cardboard, paper clip, rubber bands, straws, a wooden skewer, putty and tape.

Three Square

We also volunteered on Thursday, September 8, 2016 by helping sort potatoes and other vegetables. This activity ensured that only good produce was going to those in need.

Three Square currently provides more than 40 million pounds of food and grocery product – the equivalent of more than 33 million meals – per year to nearly 600 Program Partners including non-profit and faith-based organizations, schools and feeding sites throughout Southern Nevada.  Aztech appreciated all of those who volunteered and helped to make this possible!

Three Square

The Aztech team contributed time on Thursday, June 23, 2016, at Three Square. We helped pack 540 Mobile Pantry grocery bags for families, and to help sort and sanitize enough bins to distribute 11,500 Kids Cafe meals for children who are food insecure and hungry in our community.
